  • Ted Reicher, Program Coordinator

    Ted Reicher, from Davenport, IA, is a composer, arranger and visual designer for marching bands throughout the United States with hundreds of marching arrangements, compositions and visual designs to his credit. He has been involved in the marching arts for 40+ years and has owned and operated TR Marching (www.trmarching.com) since 2006 where his compositions and designs are available. Formerly a band director of 21 years, his bands consistently ranked at the top of competitions throughout the Midwest and were competitive on the national level.

    He is an active clinician/consultant for marching bands and has a reputation for quickly recognizing and addressing marching, music and visual design issues and implementing solutions. Programs that utilize Mr. Reicher as a regular staff member or consultant have found his techniques and processes free up considerable amounts of rehearsal time, allowing for a higher degree of performance excellence from their students.

    He resides in Davenport, IA with his wife Ann and is an avid golfer, always looking for a good game!

  • Jessica Slabaugh, Artistic Director

    Jessica Slabaugh is originally from Golden, Colorado, and relocated in 2012 to American Fork, Utah. Jessica was involved in music from a young age, and she played in her own high school marching band and was drum major. She was awarded several awards for her high achievement in music, including the John Philip Sousa Award, recognizing superior musicianship and outstanding dedication.

    In college, Jessica performed with several well-known winter guards and Drum Corps. She spent time developing and perfecting her skills with Crossmen Drum Corps, Imbue Winter Guard, Signature Winter Guard, and Alchemy Winter Guard. Jessica was also a performing member of the Oracle Performance Ensemble, a dance company from Denver, Colorado.

    In addition to her performance career, Jessica has been involved in several high school programs, including Amador Valley High School (CA), Legacy High School (CO), Eden Prairie (MN), James E. Taylor (TX), Bear Creek High School (CO), Palmview High School (TX), Juarez-Lincoln High School (TX), Victoria West High School (TX), Lone Peak High School (UT) and Loveland High School (CO). Throughout this time, her programs have been awarded several high achievement awards. Including numerous state champion awards, nine BOA Regional Championships, WGI Regional Championships, and appeared in two Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades. Jessica is the current color guard director and program coordinator for the American Fork High School Marching Band.

  • Kelzi Mather, Color Guard Director

    Kelzi Mather is the Colorguard Caption Head at Davenport Central High School. She graduated from West Liberty High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa where she received her Bachelors of Education degree in 2021. Kelzi was a member of her high school colorguard all four years and served as a captain in her senior year. During her time at UNI, she served as the Guard Recruitment Manager and as a Section Captain for two years. At Davenport Central, Miss Mather works with the colorguard section of the Marching Blue Devils in addition to the Davenport Central High School Winterguard. Under her direction, the students learn and practice proper technique, choreography, and develop their guard skills.

    Miss Mather is currently a fourth grade teacher in the Pleasant Valley School District. Her previous guard instruction experience has been working with West Liberty as the Colorguard instructor and choreographer as well as choreographing for Tipton’s Winterguard program. Some of her most memorable performance highlights were marching in the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland and performing with Pat Green at halftime of an Iowa football game in the combined Panther and Hawkeye Marching Band.

  • Nathan Bryk, Battery Coordinator

    Mr. Nathan Bryk serves as the Battery Coordinator and as a Social Studies Teacher at Davenport Central High School. Mr. Bryk received a B.A. in History and a B.A. in Social Studies Education from the University of Iowa in May of 2022. His experience in marching percussion includes several years learning under world-class instructors and four years as a member of the Hawkeye Marching Band at the University of Iowa. Mr. Bryk spent all four years as a member of the Iowa Hawkeye Drumline, serving as the snare drum section leader and drumline captain during his senior season. He has been a member of the Marching Blue Devils Staff since 2022.

  • Jessica Lowe, Wind Technician

    Mrs. Jessica Lowe serves as the K-6 Music teacher at Eisenhower Elementary since the fall of 2022. She is also a Band Staff member of the Davenport Central Marching Blue Devils, since 2021.

    Previously, Mrs. Lowe served as the 5-8 Band Director at Lourdes Catholic School from 2004-2022 and the K-8 Music teacher and 5-8 Choir Director from 2011-2022.

    Mrs. Lowe received her Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa in December of 2003. While at UNI she performed in various ensembles including Wind Symphony, marching band, and orchestra on the clarinet/bass clarinet.

    Mrs. Lowe continues to participate in various performing ensembles for fun. She has played in Saxophone Christmas, Clarinet Christmas, and Tuba Christmas. Mrs. Lowe is also a member of the Quad City Wind Ensemble where she plays clarinet.

  • CJ Parker, Wind Technician

    CJ Parker is a multi-instrumentalist from Davenport, IA. He has been a part of the marching arts since 2015, graduating from Davenport Central in 2019. He is an alumnus of the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps, marching 4 years and aging out in 2022 on Tuba. He is now a private lesson instructor and recording artist, a faculty member of Common Chord (formerly known as the River Music Experience) as well as being a faculty member of Eisenhower Elementary School. He is returning to Davenport Central as a part of the marching staff for his third year.

  • Korben Wilson, Wind Technician

    Mr. Wilson is the Director of Bands at Blue Grass Elementary School and Walcott K-8 School. An alumnus of the Davenport Central band program, Mr. Wilson went to VanderCook College of Music where he received his bachelors of Music Education in May of 2020. Mr. Wilson studied with Dr. Charlie Mengheni, Dean Stacy Dolan, Prof. Brian Logan, Dr. Joseph Manfredo, Prof. Chip Staley, Prof. William Jastrow, Prof. Alex Kaminsky, and Dr. Bonnie Campbell. After teaching for a year in the south suburbs of Chicago, Mr. Wilson returned to his home district to take on his current position. This will be Mr. Wilson’s third season with the Marching Blue Devils as a Woodwind staff member. Mr. Wilson is planning on continuing his education with a Masters in Clarinet Performance this Fall.

  • Jennifer Mahl, Front Ensemble Technician

    Ms. Jennifer Mahl is an incoming senior K-12 music education student at Drake University with an emphasis in vocal music. She has extensive experience in the instruments of piano and voice, both of which she is currently studying through her undergraduate degree. Ms. Mahl has studied with Dr. Nicholas Roth and Dr. Ann Cravero, respectively, throughout her time at Drake.

    A 2020 graduate of Davenport Central, through her time in high school, Ms. Mahl played oboe, English horn, cello, and in the mallet percussion section of the marching band. Ms. Mahl was a three-year section leader of the front ensemble and center marimbist, who performed multiple solos throughout her career in the Davenport Central Marching Blue Devils. This will be her third year on staff.

  • Kalyn Beazley, Color Guard Technician

    Kaylyn Beazley is the Color Guard tech in the Davenport Central Marching Band. She is an Alumni from Central. She graduated in 2022 from Central High School and was a part of Color Guard all 4 years and was Color Guard captain for her last 2 years. Now Kaylyn is currently studying Cosmetology at Capri College to do what she loves the most. Her favorite thing about marching band was being a part of a supportive community, performing with a hardworking team, and a loving Marching Blue Devils family.

  • Isaac Anderson, Wind Technician

    Mr. Isaac Anderson is a visual instructor with The Marching Blue Devils. He is an alumnus of Davenport Central where he served as Drum Major for two years and competed in multiple Bands of America regional competitions. After high school Mr. Anderson attended the University of Iowa where he received his Bachelors in Music Performance in May of 2017. He studied under outstanding faculty at Iowa including Dr. Johathan Allen, Kevin Kastens, and Dr. Mark Heidel and performed in several ensembles including, Symphony Band, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Repertory Ensemble, Trombone Choir, and the Hawkeye Marching Band where he served as Drum Major for three seasons. Mr. Anderson is also an alumnus of the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from Dubuque, Iowa where he spent four years in the Baritone section and served as a Horn Sergeant in his final year.

    Mr. Anderson received his commission as an officer in the US Army in 2017 through ROTC at the University of Iowa. Since commissioning he has spent 6 years on Active Duty serving in various positions including Battalion Staff Officer, Tank Platoon Leader, and Tank Company Executive Officer. Mr. Anderson holds the rank of Captain and continues to serve in the Iowa National Guard.

    His awards and recognitions include the John Bernatz Leadership award, All State Musician, Colts Member of the Year Honorable Mention, George C. Marshall Leadership Award, Distinguished Military Graduate, Order of Saint George, 3 Army Achievement Medals, 2 Army Commendation Medals, and is an Eagle Scout.

    Mr. Anderson lives in Iowa City with his wife Amanda Stout who is an Arts Operations Coordinator at Kirkwood Community College, Horn Professor at multiple colleges in the area, and regularly performs with Orchestra Iowa and various ensembles in the area.on goes here

  • Mackenna Janz, Percussion Technician

    Mackenna Janz is a Percussion Tech for the Davenport Central Marching Band. She is an alumnus who graduated in 2021 after spending 5 years with the ensemble. She was an Iowa All-State Percussionist and holds the title of the 2021 Iowa State Marimba Competition winner, as well as seven consecutive superior ratings from the Iowa Music Teacher Association for her performances on piano. In the past, she has studied with Brian Zeglis, Professor Michael Kozakis, and Professor Judy Hyland. Currently, she is completing her GERs at Scott Community College and is an active member of the Quad City Wind Ensemble. She plans on continuing her musical education in the fall of 2024.
